Day 18

We have heard today that the group is now back in Kathmandu having had a great time on the trek. All are well.

We will bring you more when we get it.

Day 10 - Two updates received today.

At 4:45am this morning we heard that the group was setting off for the final climb to the Machhapuchare Base Camp.

Then at 10:30am we heard that they had made it and they were now making their way back down. Some of them found it a very hard climb and wished that they had done some more training but all are well, in good spirits and pleased with their achievement.

Day 6 - Evening Message from Paul

Hello. First days trek done. We walked into the night to catch up from a late start due to the flight etc. We finished about 8pm. We have now eaten and are off to bed. We are going to Pothana tomorrow and will be walking for 7 hours. Sorry no photos yet as no internet here and it crashed at the airport. Bed Now.

Paul.

Summary of today's updates from Nick.

I spoke to Paul and Simon in the early hours and though everyone is very disappointed at still being in Kathmandu all are having great fun.
Paul phoned at 4 to say the flight was yet again cancelled and all flights for the next few days are unlikely to happen. The problem is that the
airstrip in Lukla only has a short runway and is currently fog bound. They were trying to get a flight to a different airfield.
At 8:30 this morning they were boarding a flight to Annapurna
At 10:00 they had landed and they are doing the Annapurna Sanctuary Walk. The link is in yesterday's update but they are adding an extra day.
At 11 they were preparing to leave. Everyone is well again. A few had been suffering from sickness but are back to full health. If your child was ill you will have been contacted separately.

We will update you when we hear more but I would just like say that although this is disappointing the safety of the explorers is paramount to us. We will endeavour to still give them the best trip we can but only if it is safe. We can cover most things but not the weather.
We should receive a new itinerary and timetable on Monday so we will bring that information to you as soon as we have it.

Nick

Day 5 - Update on weather situation and possible alternative plans.

Hello All. Guess where we are? Nope not the mountains but Kathmandu again!

Unfortunately our flight has been cancelled yet again, the weather is still bad at Lukla and flights can not get in. We will be trying again tomorrow as this is realistically our last chance to get to Kala Pattar. If we can't fly tomorrow then we have to look at other options. Currently the option we have been given is a trek to Annapurna
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annapurna), but as I say this depends on what will happen tomorrow. We will let you know now as soon as we know. This is roughly the route we will do but not the 19 days (http://www.mountainkingdoms.com/itinerary_info.ihtml?schedid=924)

Day 4 - Apologies for the delay in putting up this update. - Blog post on 2nd April @ 16:53 BST

Greetings from Nepal

Our flight to Nepal was OK good food, personal TVs with DVDs and games woo! Kathmandu was crazily mad, when driving we don't need wing mirrors just a horn. The first day we spent shopping and looking around. The second day we visited the school and did our lessons they were a great success, the children are so well behaved and cute we all have one to bring home as a souvenir.

Today we were supposed to fly to Lukla unfortunately the flight was cancelled so we will have to try again tomorrow. We will still be back on time but will have to make the day up on trek. All are well but a bit disappointed.

Also we received a photo of Simon KB walking in Katmandu

Day 3 - Another update received this afternoon.

We had a great day in the school and it was a good experience.
The Explorers are getting used to Kathmandu, shopping and finding their way around the strange place.
We are now all heading back to the hotel to pack for the start of the expedition tomorrow.

We received an update from the group this morning.

We have arrived at the school to start work. All are well and looking forward to the day.

Later in the week we will put more info here about the activities that the explorers planned to do at the school.

Day 2 - We received an update from the group earlier today.

Hello Everyone. We have just sat down for dinner. All are well but tired as we've not been to bed yet. We've had a look around Kathmandu,  it is the maddest place on earth so busy and hectic. We've also had very heavy rain but it is still very warm.
